Layered Look - Made Easy

I made a layered-look card starting with a standard 5 ½" x 4 ¼" card.


Just the edges were embossed with the Cuttlebug "Swiss Dots" folder.


Score lines were applied just outside the inner edges of the dots.



Light green piece of cardstock cut to 5" x 3 ¾" and punched on each corner.


Dark green piece of cardstock cut to 4 5/8" x 3" to fit inside light green paper and embossed with Cuttlebug "Victoria" folder.


Cuttlebug embossing folders used: Swiss Dots and Victoria

Corner punch used was a Double Slot Corner Punch (brand not marked)



All layers assembled together.


Center emblem pieces cut with Spellbinders Nestabilities "Labels Two" set using 2 ¼" and 1 ¾" die cut frames and centered on card using foam squares.


Finished product.

Center emblem stamped and heat embossed with pearl green powder and centered with foam squares.


Close-up view of center emblem. Green glitter gel pen used to trace over words and frame for more effect.

Swing Card

This is the "Swing" card template.




Here is the two-sided paper I used for my "Swing" card.



Place your template over cardstock, then score and cut where indicated.



Fold card back at left side.



Turn card around and fold in opposite direction.



This is what your card should look like.



This is a top view of the "Swing" card.



This is the reverse patterned side of the card.



You can cut a small square to cover the swing portion that matches the front (optional).



I applied adhesive to the back of my square overlay.



I put my cut-out on the patterned back side of the card.



I embossed the left side using Sizzix border flowers (in my Cuttlebug).




I also embossed the right side with another flower border.



I used a glitter gel pen (gold) to highlight the embossed blossoms.


I then put my card into the Cricut, using "center point" and inscribed the words "Happy Mother's Day" in green using my gel pen holder and the Mother's Day 2010 cartridge.


This is another view of the "Swing" card.


I used a green Sakura Glaze pen to fill in the words, and embellished the flowers with gold rhinestones and other pre-packaged die-cut flowers.


This is the completed (closed) view of the card.

Slider Card (made easy)

Step 1. Trace an opening in your card using a popsicle stick.


Step 2. Cut the opening with a sharp craft knife.


Step 3. Use a "gum" eraser to remove any pencil marks.


Step 4. Cut out an embellishment (or use a pre-cut one).
This ladybug was cut at 2 ¼" from the Paisley cart in the various layers.


Step 5. Take 2 pennies and apply foam squares in the center.
Cut off the pointy corner edges with your craft knife (as shown in bottom penny).


Step 6. Stick the penny to the backside of your embellisment.


Step 7. Place your other penny on top (piggy-backed) to the backside of your embellishment.


Step 8. Slide your "penny-weight" embellishment into the slot of your card.


Step 9. Enjoy rolling your little bug back and forth.

(This also works great using a birthday cake cutout as an embellishment for a birthday card).

Mother's Day cards

This card was made with the following supplies and products: a blue card from DCWV Spring boxed card sets; white cardstock bottom layer border punched with Martha Stewart's "Eyelet" punch; background patterned paper from DCWV "Far East" mat stack embossed with Cuttlebug "D'vine Swirl" folder; blue cardstock strip from DCWV "the Glitter cardstock stack" border punched with Martha Stewart's "Floral Vine" deep edge punch; 6" x 5/8" dark blue ribbon by Berwick Offray, LLC; green cardstock for flourish cut with Cricut "Home Accents" cartridge; Daisy Flower cut with Cricut "Forever Young" cartridge and embossed with Cuttlebug "Birds & Swirls folder; dark blue rhinestone in center of flower; and light blue rhinestone butterfly accent.


In case your interested, here is MY craft corner. Since I have a teeny-tiny apartment, I took over the kitchen corner, (since we don't use it for eating in, anyway), it was the perfect place for ALL my stuff, and I have lots of it!
